• So ... just what DID the Postman see?

  What the Postman Saw – An exhibition of Bushey events on postcards from the Museum’s collection The Edwardian era was the heyday of the picture postcard. Recent research has revealed that six billion postcards were sent between 1901 and 1910 – an average of 200 postcards per person. Postcards fell out of favour after the First World War, a victim of paper shortages and the increasing use of the telephone. Nowadays postcards are normally sent only by holidaymakers, but postcard collecting remains a popular and inexpensive hobby. The exhibition opens on Saturday 6 February and runs until 3 July. Bushey Museum is in Rudolph Road off Bushey High Street It is open Thursdays to Sundays 11am to 4pm inclusive Admission is free. Wheelchair access.

• Climbing in Watford

  Adult taster sessions take place every week on Tuesdays between 4 and 5pm, and Saturdays between 2.30 and 3.30pm. A one hour session costs £20. Adult induction sessions take place weekly on Tuesdays between 6 and 8pm and Wednesdays between 12 and 2pm. These 2 hour sessions cost £30. For juniors between 8 and 12 years old, the weekly sessions run on Wednesdays between 4 and 5.30pm and Saturdays between 10 and 11.30pm. Cost per child is £7. For juniors between 10 and 17 years old, the weekly sessions run on Wednesdays between 5.30 and 7.30pm and Saturdays between 11.30 and 1.30pm, and cost £8.60 per child.
