Renowned as much for its seasonal blooms as it is for the quality of its London Pride ale, The Red Lion, High Street, Bushey has been the home of Sue, Gary and the Ross family for 23 years.

A pub at the heart of the community, Gary believes in real customer service and as a result has seen patronage continue to grow year on year, through the smoking ban, the latest recession even the World Cup!

Although Gary seems to be forever tending the expansive Red Lion patio garden or up the ladder beside his beloved hanging baskets, hes definitely not resting on his laurels and even donned the faithful trainers for the Bushey Quarter Marathon earlier this month.

Id joked about it and one of the customers said hed give me a pint for every mile I ran, and when the organiser came to put a poster in our window my wife, Sue told him to sign me up. It was never about the time or position I finished. With the generous encouragement from the Red Lion patronage there was no way I was not going to participate. I must thank them all. Finishing in around 90 minutes and claiming his pints Gary managed to raise more than £1000 in aid of the Peace Hospice and Help For Heroes and now theres even talk of the Red Lion Veterans the 2011 return.
