Happy Reading, Ed
Welcome Elise!
This is the third year we have been delighted to welcome a foreign business studies student on attachment to Flea. Our student this year is twenty year old Elise Gross who is spending the summer with us to improve her English language skills and to experience business culture in the UK before returning to her studies at the Ecole Gestion et de Commerce de Franche-Comté in Vesoul, which is in the east of France some 50 miles from its borders with Switzerland and Germany.
Since arriving in mid-May, she’s been
busy in the office, going to networking events and recently gave
her first presentation! She has interviewed local author Leigh Russell, attended
the launch of Leigh's new book and this week she’s off to
St Albans to interview Children’s TV presenter Jamie
Rickers who will be presenting the "It's a Knockout" event
on Sunday July 25th 2010 in St Albans, organised by the National Association
for Crohns & Collitis.
Wow! Well done, Elise!
Welcome too to two twins
We’re also delighted to welcome lovely local teenage girls
Tai and Kenny Dada, two busy 15 year old twin sisters who attend
Westfield School and are now junior flea associates.
Kenny wants to be a journalist, so we hope we’ll be able to
help her get started towards a successful career. Watch out for
Kenny's contributions to flea - or contact her via the flea
office if you're a teen and have something to say that
you'd like reported in your local Watford flea magazine.
Tai sees her future as a medical doctor at which we’re sure
she’ll excel. We hope she'll be presenting some health
information for you in the coming months.
Here’s what Kenny had to say about their initial work
experience at the fleacentral office: "Hello! We are
Tai and Kenny Dada and we are the newest additions to Flea. As we
are only 15 years old, our job consists of doing all sorts of
little things like; making the odd cup of tea, helping out with the
website, writing up articles and reviews and so on.
For now, we are just learning the ropes and getting to know how
everything works. It’s been really fun because it helps me
particularly, as I would like a career in journalism one day. So
far, we have really enjoyed our time at Flea (the biscuits and
drinks help make us feel very welcome) and we hope to be here for
quite a while."
Kenny Dada
Fredi Flea says: Why not see what you think of Kenny’s journalistic skills by reading her recent review of Britain’s got Bhangra at which our twins represented flea on Press Night at Watford's Palace Theatre
