Preserving our culture - the 'Local'

In recent times, a more transient population and less patronage has diluted the value of the ‘Public House’ – its very concept is seriously threatened. We’d like to see that situation change. We feel ‘the Pub’ and of course ‘the Publican’ play a vital role in the community. We’re delighted to discover people who are trying to preserve this very special part of our culture so we’re featuring the concept of the ‘Pub’in this issue and we’d like to hear your views…

A focus on West Watford

In this edition, we take a look at West Watford, home to over 12,000 people - and home to Flea Magazines too!.

But it's not an area that many residents from other parts of the town would visit, except to watch sport or visit the hospital. But there's a lot more to this area of Watford than many imagine.

The great diversity of business on our doorstep is often overlooked as we jump in the car and drive into the town centre – or out of town. In our centre pages ‘Watford Traders’ kicks off with a focus on West Watford. Take a walk around that area sometime – it’s quite different from the ‘town centre’ with a plethora of small but excellent specialist businesses and services – you won’t be disappointed!
