I was invited to review a fantastic singer called Paul Bond at The Waggon and Horses pub, somewhere I have never been but would certainly go again. Conveniently located on the ancient roman road, Watling Street, it first opened it’s doors in 1471.

The relatively new owners Darren and Rob have taken up the mantle and are determined to change this pub’s fortunes. They are sympathetically restoring this ancient and beautiful building, creating a cosy interior ambiance and growing their loyal and regular clientele.

They offer an exciting program of events appealing to families, music lovers and those wanting a quiet drink.

If you want food, Friday is fish & chip night, Tuesday is curry night, and always available is not one, but six different varieties of traditionally made Cornish pasties.

They have a psychic night, regular quiz nights and even a Harley Davidson Motorbike club night!

Private dining and functions are also catered for, with the added benefit of a large, child friendly garden, together with a marquee.

The Waggon & Horses has a long history of ghosts, strange goings on and even the odd murder! They have been featured on “Livings Most Haunted”. There’s the lady in the coach that pulls up outside, the man who sits next to the fire, strange whispers and things that go bump in the night.

Don’t let that put you off though, there is always a warm smile and a great welcome!
