Beryl Cook OBE
Beryl Cook O.B.E. (1926-2008)
Famous for her paintings of large ladies, Beryl Cook O.B.E. was a passionate observer of human behaviour. The last signed Limited Edition Print Dirty Dancing was launched in February this year. Sadly Beryl Cook died at the age of 81 on May 28th 2008.
Cook started painting when living in Southern Rhodesia with her husband and young son, and continued to paint on returning to during the 60s, but only began to sell her work in the mid 70s.
Her work is featured around the world and many of her signed Limited Edition Prints published during the last 30 years have become rare and valuable collectors pieces.
For Beryl her pictures had a life of their own I dont know how my pictures happen, they just do. They exist, but for the life of me I cant explain them. That they did, and that they brought such delight to so many is enough explanation for us all.
