WATFORD FILMHOUSE

NEW FILM CLUB AT WATFORD PUMP HOUSE

50 new members sign up on first night of Watford’s new Film Club

Are you tired of travelling miles to a cinema only to find yourself sitting ankle deep in popcorn or unable to concentrate on the film because those around you are talking or using a mobile phone?

Well you are not alone, which is why a group of film enthusiasts have started a film club in Watford that promises to give you a very different cinema experience.

Wanting to see the many wonderful films that are not screened locally, they decided to take the matter into their own hands and create a new cinema. They formed themselves into a committee and very soon had obtained grants from the Mayor of Watford Community Fund, Hertfordshire County Council and the Oxhey Village Environment Group. The Watford Pump house provided the perfect venue, and the Watford Film House was born.

MONTHLY WATFORD FILM SCREENINGS

With monthly film screenings, Watford Film House is a wonderful new cinema, situated at the Pump House Theatre and Arts Centre in Watford.

With tiered theatre seating, a large screen and glorious surround sound, films can be viewed in comfort. A licensed bar and nearby parking are available.

A test run on November 22nd was a great success and after watching a screening of, ‘Woman on the Edge of a Nervous Breakdown’, fifty people eagerly applied for membership.

The first official performance was on Friday February 5th 2010 with a showing of ‘Looking for Eric’ (certificate 15), starring former footballer Eric Cantona. The film was directed by Ken Loach.

The next screening is on March 5th and features "Everything is Illuminated".(certificate 15).

A young Jewish man and his assorted companions search for the woman who saved his grandfather in WW2. The trip from hell becomes a meaningful journey with a series of revelations that will change all of their lives.
Doors open at 7:15pm and the performance starts at 7:45pm
