Herts Extended Schools

In Watford and Three Rivers we have five clusters of extended schools working together to provide access to services, fun activities and opportunities for children, families and the wider community.

Activities include: support for parents, family learning, after school clubs, adult learning such as keeping fit, childcare plus much, much more.

What is an Extended School?

It is a school working in partnership to provide access to a range of services to improve children’s achievement and their life chances. This can include such services as:-

  • High quality ‘wraparound’ childcare provided on the school site or through other local providers
  • A varied menu of activities to be on offer such as study support, sport, music, dance and drama and many more
  • Parenting support including information, support at key transition points, parenting programmes and family learning
  • Providing wider community access to ICT, sports, art and adult learning
  • Swift and easy referral to a wide range of specialist support systems eg speech therapy, child and adolescent mental health services and intensive family support

Extended Schools are Demand Led

We need to know the requirements of parents, pupils and the wider community in all our consortiums to ensure we are providing the services you need.

Let us know what activities you would like to see available.
